Declan McGillis and Mackenzie Armstrong are an unlikely pair, not just because of their lifestyle differences but also because of their personality differences. Declan is a deckhand on a luxury yacht and there's nothing he hates more than the snobby rich people coming in and out of the yacht ordering them around as they wish. Everything however is worth it if he could finally save enough money to buy his own yacht were he will be in charge, so when an important family boards the yacht he knows there going to be over the top and will likely be barking orders at the employees. As soon as he sets eyes on Mackenzie Armstrong however he is immediately attracted to her, but suspects that she's going to be the typical rich kid and make their lives miserable.
Mackenzie on the other hand is not like everyone suspects her to be she's actually very humble and doesn't like the thought of being snobby, flaunting around her money. She invites her friend along with her so she won't feel excluded as her dad has only been paying attention to his new wife and her daughter. Mackenzie could see that her stepmom and stepsister are only in this family for money and luxuries.
Immediately Declan makes it known that he doesn't want to be around Mackenzie and her family, but gets close to her sometimes. Because of situations from certain people and Declan's own insecurities he starts pushing Mackenzie away, so she suffers a great deal because of that.
In my opinion when Declan got to know Mackenzie he shouldn't have let his mind be poisoned with others opinions or with the fact that he feels inferior or insecure at times. But that added angst to the book so it was very well written in the plot as a whole.
The characters were dynamic in their own rights so it just amped up the whole feel of the book in general. Chemistry is something I take a lot of consideration in, but this couple had great chemistry and it really brought everything together.
My thought on this book is that people should definitely read it and read Tara's other books because they are awesome too.
